The planned performance of Journey at the Stagecoach festival on Saturday night was canceled due to high winds that prompted the evacuation of the Indio, California venue.
Although fans were allowed back into the festival grounds an hour later, Journey was not included in the revised schedule. The evening’s headliner, country star Lainey Wilson, ended up taking the stage an hour later than initially scheduled.
“The show was quite windy when we arrived, but we went into a saloon to watch one of our friends perform karaoke,” a concert-goer shared with the LA Times. “When we stepped outside, palm trees were bending in half.”
“We sincerely apologize to everyone at the Stagecoach Festival last night. We were really looking forward to performing for you,” Journey guitarist Neal Schon posted on Facebook on Sunday.
“The decision to evacuate and cancel the show was not made by us. It was communicated to our team during the emergency situation,” he continued. “The safety of our fans, crew, and everyone on site had to come first. We’re deeply sorry we couldn’t take the stage and share that moment with you. We appreciate your support, patience, and the incredible energy you bring every night.”
“The high winds were extremely dangerous for everyone, and evacuation was necessary,” keyboardist Jonathan Cain added on X. “All our fans should know we were waiting and ready to perform.”

Journey’s Final Frontier tour – which will be the last featuring longtime keyboardist and songwriter Cain – is set to continue Wednesday night in Las Vegas.
The group has dates scheduled until an August 11 appearance in Sturgis, South Dakota, but both Schon and Cain have indicated that this tour could extend well into 2027.
