Tom Cruise recently attended a screening of the latest Steven Spielberg movie, Disclosure Day. During the event, Cruise showcased his unique Spielberg-themed popcorn bucket, which was humorously more appealing than the official one from the film.
Cruise shared some photos on social media from the screening, where he was joined by Colin Farrell and Dakota Fanning, both of whom he has previously collaborated with on Spielberg films Minority Report and War of the Worlds, respectively. In his post, Cruise honored Spielberg, but the standout feature was undoubtedly his popcorn bucket.
The bucket itself was designed as a bust of Spielberg, complete with his signature glasses and hat. Popcorn could be seen spilling out from the top of “Spielberg’s” hat, and Cruise proudly held it in each photo. While it was a playful tribute to the director, Cruise’s popcorn bucket would genuinely have been a better choice than the one offered to moviegoers.
Tom Cruise’s Steven Spielberg popcorn bucket should’ve been the real one
The official popcorn bucket for Disclosure Day features a design of a deer and a bird resting on its antlers. While this design may seem unusual, it aligns well with the film for those who have seen it. However, as a standalone popcorn bucket, it lacks significant appeal. Since the movie is an original project, any merchandise related to it would likely be unfamiliar to audiences.
A bucket themed around something like a UFO or alien would be too revealing regarding plot details; therefore, it would have been entertaining for Universal to embrace the essence of Spielberg. As a legendary director easily recognized by his appearance alone, creating a popcorn bucket in his likeness would not only have been amusing but also quite relevant given that it is his latest film.
Of course, it’s entirely possible that Spielberg would not have approved such an idea. Instead, we are left admiring Cruise’s popcorn bucket with envy.
