Noah Centineo expressed high regard for his Gundam co-star Sydney Sweeney. He shared that they had encountered each other while growing up in the industry and conveyed his desire to collaborate with her again, while also addressing the online criticism aimed at her.
Noah Centineo has nothing but praise for Gundam costar Sydney Sweeney
In a discussion on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Centineo mentioned Sweeney while talking about their forthcoming military science fiction film, Gundam. He noted that they completed filming about a week and a half ago and praised Sweeney’s talent and character. “Sydney’s a force. I’m always impressed by Sydney. She’s a smart lady. Yo, she’s brilliant. Yeah,” he stated.
He shared that they both grew up auditioning together and had mutual acquaintances. “She was in Turlock, and we had similar circles of friends, and we knew of each other. Like we had just had these memories of, like, being in passing, and so being able to go back to work and be like, ‘Dude, how have you been?’” he remarked.
He described her career as “comet-like,” referencing her notable role in Euphoria. Expressing his eagerness to work on more films with her, he elaborated, “She’s phenomenal. I want to do movies over and over and over again with her. She’s lovely. I think people love to hate on her on the internet.”
Centineo emphasized that his admiration stemmed from firsthand experience after spending months collaborating with Sweeney on the film. He remarked that people often misunderstand what Sweeney is truly like, further calling her “great.” He also acknowledged being consistently “impressed” by how she conducts herself while reflecting on how public figures can face undue scrutiny online.
“And people handle things good and sometimes they handle things terribly, you know, or they just don’t do it. And it just adds fuel to the fire. And that’s totally fair,” he explained.
