Taylor Sheridan Alum’s Hitchcockian Thriller Finds New Streaming Home

Two things became undeniable following the release of 1923, the second Yellowstone prequel series. One, Taylor Sheridan‘s real interest lay in telling old-fashioned Western tales in period-appropriate settings, and two, Brandon Sklenar was going to become a major star. Sklenar was immediately cast in It Ends with Us, which grossed $350 million worldwide in 2024. Next up, he starred alongside Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney in The Housemaid, which went on to gross more than $400 million worldwide toward the end of 2025. Between the two blockbusters, however, Sklenar played a character similar to the one he portrayed in The Housemaid in a Hitchcockian sleeper hit that received positive reviews, and is now headed to a new streaming home.

The movie in question premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival before being released theatrically by Universal. The movie was headlined by Meghann Fahy, who broke out with a role in The White Lotus, and was directed by Christopher Landon, a veteran of the horror-thriller genre. Landon, in fact, had been hired to direct Scream 7 before the Melissa Barrera fiasco. This was the movie he pivoted to after his departure from Scream 7. It now holds a “Certified Fresh” 83% critics’ score and a 79% audience score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the audience consensus describes it as a “cheesy popcorn thriller.”
