Skybound Entertainment, Robert Kirkman‘s production company, has rocked the comics world for the past several years with its Energon Universe books, bringing Transformers, G.I. Joe, and more into a new universe of action. Now, the imprint is branching out with some new takes on the classic toylines of the 1980s…plus a forgotten comics hero of the Golden Age of Comic Books.

Announced at New York Comic Con today is Skybound Visions, a new line of comics offering a new slant on some classic Hasbro properties. First out of the gate is Transformers: Bumblebee – Lost Planet. This book, by writer Tate Brombal (Batgirl), artist Matt Emmons (The Council of Frogs), colorist Giovanna Niro (Absolute Catwoman), and letterer Becca Carey (Radiant Black) will see the smallest Autobot warrior stranded on a bizarre alien world where evolution has gone completely wild. He’ll have to face hostile wildlife, a deadly Decepticon, and his own uncanny evolution. It hits store shelves on January 27, 2027.

Second is G.I. Joe: The Island of Dr. Mindbender, which will make its debut on February 2, 2027. Dr. Mindbender is a classic Cobra villain; a mad scientist whose mind has been twisted by his own experiments. In this horror-tinged tale, from writer Karl Kerschl (Gotham Academy), penciler Doug Mahnke (Batman: The Man Who Laughs), inker Jaime Mendoza (Superman), colorist David Baron (JLA), and letterer Tom Napolitano (Kaya), retired Joe tactician Flint must lead a team of rookies into Mindbender’s nightmarish lab to rescue a missing squad of Joes.

Third up is not a Hasbro property, but a licensed character from Gold Key: Turok. The legendary dinosaur hunter returns in Turok: Son of Stone, by Stephen Graham Jones (The Buffalo Hunter Hunter) and Leandro Fernández (The Old Guard), and colorist Lee Loughridge (G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero) with letterer Napolitano. This reimagines Turok as an archeologist whose dig site sends him to a lost world of creatures that time forgot. To find his son and survive, he’ll need every weapon at his disposal. Turok will hit stores on March 10, 2027.
