James Wan is one of the most prominent horror directors in Hollywood today. His films are highly acclaimed and beloved by fans worldwide. Currently, Wan’s billion-dollar horror franchise is set to leave Netflix very soon. Fans have only a few days left to stream all of them.
Nine Saw movies are leaving Netflix in less than a week
As reported by What’s on Netflix, nine Saw films will be removed from Netflix on July 19. These films are departing after their licensing agreement expires. Subscribers now have a very limited time to watch them. The list includes Saw (2004) through Saw: The Final Chapter (2010).
The list also features Jigsaw (2017) and Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021). Only Saw X (2023) will remain available on Netflix. The Saw franchise revolves around the notorious serial killer John Kramer, also known as the chilling Jigsaw Killer.
Instead of killing his victims outright, Kramer devises deadly survival games throughout the series. James Wan directed the original Saw back in 2004, marking his feature directorial debut. Leigh Whannell penned the screenplay for this hit horror film.
Both Wan and Whannell continued as executive producers on subsequent installments of the franchise. Jigsaw (2017) is set years after John Kramer’s death; however, new murders begin to mimic the killer’s brutal old methods. Meanwhile, Spiral (2021) follows two detectives as they investigate another horrifying murder spree, which soon becomes deeply personal for everyone involved.
According to Box Office Mojo, the original Saw earned $103 million globally. Saw II brought in an impressive $147 million worldwide overall. Saw III grossed a substantial $164 million, and Saw IV achieved another solid $139 million globally.
Saw V finished with $113 million, while Saw VI earned $68 million during its worldwide run. Saw: The Final Chapter collected an additional $136 million globally. Jigsaw grossed $102 million, and Spiral added another $40 million to the franchise’s total.
Together, these nine Saw films have grossed over $1 billion worldwide. While these nine films will leave Netflix next week, Saw X (2023) will continue to be available on the platform. Fans still have a few days left to binge-watch the Saw films before they depart.
