It’s been far too long since Will Ferrell ditched the big screen and chased after TV dreams. Over the last few years, we’ve been lucky enough to spot the comedy legend in a slew of genre-hopping titles like Will & Harper, You’re Cordially Invited,, and A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, but he hasn’t stepped into the spotlight in episodic form since his appearance all the way back in 2021 via Apple TV’s dark psychological comedy The Shrink Next Door. Luckily for his dedicated following, that’s all about to change when he teams up with Netflix in the upcoming sports comedy drama The Hawk. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’ve got a first look image that showcases Ferrell in all his golfing glory in the project, which is slated for an arrival on the streamer later this summer.

Channeling the same energy we saw him bring to the rink in Will Speck and Josh Gordon’s 2007 feature Blades of Glory, Ferrell’s newest role will see him ditch the ice for a putting green and his bedazzled spandex for a flashy polo. In The Hawk, the Anchorman actor stars as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, as he attempts to make a massive comeback more than two decades after he ruled the sport as its top competitor. With plenty of hope in his heart, he’s about to face several obstacles along the way to coming out as the champion of the Grand Slam — specifically his son, Lance (Jimmy Tatro), who followed in his father’s footsteps and has since become the biggest name in the biz.
