Z-A Sequel Features an Ideal Setting and Time Period

It may have received criticism for its lack of ambition and visually restricting setting, but since its release back in 2025, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has gradually redeemed itself. Thanks to regular post-game content updates and free downloads, many fans still flock to Lumiose City in one of the last ever additions to Pokémon’s ninth generation.

On top of that, Nintendo released paid DLC, Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension, back in December and so now is the perfect time to dive into the hit Pokémon title if you skipped out on it at launch.

Whilst the future of the Pokémon franchise is already looking bright, with the launch of Pokémon Winds and Waves in 2027, it seems as though there may be something else to look forward to. At least according to a recent leak.

First, however, back in October 2025, there was a major leak that gave fans a look into the roadmap for the Pokémon franchise up until 2030. It was during this leak that Pokémon Legends 3 was unveiled and, if true, it could launch as early as 2027. Nicknamed ‘Project Ringo’, it will continue the Legends series by taking players to the Galar region.

““THIS IS CRAZY,” a social media post by CentroLeaks read. “All the projects Game Freak currently has in development: Pokémon Wind and Waves is releasing in 2026, with DLC in 2027. However, Pokémon Legends: Galar is releasing in 2027 or beyond.” However, it is worth noting that the hacked documents are from 2021 and, as such, the timeline can change which we have already seen with the launch of Winds and Waves not being this year.

Exciting Prospects for a New Pokémon Game in Galar

With the most recent Legends entry, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, taking place in the future, it seems as though Project Galar will take us back to the past, a thousand years into the past more specifically. According to CentroLeaks, the story will focus on the origins of the first Dynamax Poké Ball, and players will even get to experience the Gigantamax phenomenon for the first time.

Pokémon Legends 3 is Galar!!!! Set 1000 years in the past, you must create the first Gigamax Poké Ball,” CentroLeaks shared. Not only that, but with the game expected to take major inspiration from Xenoblade Chronicles X, this may just be the fresh start that Pokémon has been looking for, especially with complaints of a lack of ambition in recent years.

Of course, it is worth taking this news with a pinch of salt as no such project has been officially confirmed by Nintendo. However, it is no less exciting and could spell an exciting future for Pokémon fans.
