Anne Hathaway has been on quite the journey.

After starring in five movies released this year, the Oscar winner fulfilled her promise of disappearing from the spotlight in a humorous way.

“We’re heading out to the Verity premiere,” Hathaway said in a video recorded before the Sept. 29 event and shared to Instagram Oct. 2. “Verity comes out in theaters Friday, Oct. 2, and then on Oct. 3…”

But as the 43-year-old is speaking, an animated plume of smoke bursts onto the screen and she disappears, prompting confusion from a member of her team.

Then, faux headlines appear that read, “Anne Hathaway disappears,” “As promised, Anne Hathaway vanishes into a plume of smoke,” and “Anne Hathaway simply evaporates.”

Indeed, the week before, Hathaway—who announced in June she is pregnant with her third baby with husband Adam Shulman—noted she was going to “disappear and take some time off” after her fifth press tour, quipping in a Sept. 21 interview with Entertainment Tonight, “The movie comes out Oct. 2 and on Oct. 3 I’m going to, like, vanish in a plume of smoke and you’re not gonna see me until you have to.”
