Kindergarten Cop is leaving Netflix next month

According to a report from What’s on Netflix, Kindergarten Cop, featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role, is leaving Netflix on August 1, 2026. The movie follows the life and challenges of a cop played by Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger’s character lands a big mission in which he has to go undercover as a kindergarten teacher to track down a dangerous drug dealer.

Released in December 1990, the comedy-and-action movie was directed by Ivan Reitman. Made on a decent million budget, Kindergarten Cop did wonders at the box office, pulling in exceptional numbers. According to a report by Box Office Mojo, the movie recorded an opening of $7.9 million. At the domestic box office, Kindergarten Cop grossed over $91 million, while it collected over 0 million internationally. The movie’s final collection stood at over $201 million.

Despite a phenomenal run at the box office, Kindergarten Cop received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie got an average score of 54 percent on the Tomatometer based on critics’ reviews. Kindergarten Cop received a lower rating of 52 percent on the Popcornmeter based on audience reviews.

While speaking with James Corden in 2015, Schwarzenegger revealed that Kindergarten Cop was one of his favorite projects to work on, even ranking above his action blockbusters. He said on Corden’s talk show that most studios focus only on making action movies because they generate a huge amount of money. The actor added, “Then, when I finally met Ivan Reitman and when we did Twins, and then we did Kindergarten Cop, I was in heaven.”
