2 ‘Little House on the Prairie’ (2026)
IMDb: 6.6/10
This weekend is one of the most exciting on Netflix this summer, with the debut of Netflix’s new adaptation of the beloved novel, Little House on the Prairie. Based on classic books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the series follows the Ingalls family, led by Charles (Luke Bracey) and Caroline Ingalls (Crosby Fitzgerald), as they navigate life in Midwestern America during the late 19th century.
This new series will faithfully adapt the original novels and is expected to explore much darker themes than its cheerful TV predecessor that aired from 1974 to 1983. Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Housemaid) expressed gratitude for their wonderful cast and crew who dedicated their efforts to bringing this first season to life. Additionally, Little House on the Prairie has already been renewed for a second season.
3 ‘Lord of the Flies’ (2026)
Rotten Tomatoes: 91% | IMDb: 6.6/10
If you love adaptations of classic novels, you’re in luck! The 2026 adaptation of William Golding’s 1954 novel Lord of the Flies is now available for binge-watching on Netflix and is notably the very first TV interpretation of this story. The series follows a group of British boys who become stranded alone on a tropical island and must create their own community amidst chaos.
The latest Netflix hit from Adolescence writer Jack Thorne, Lord of the Flies , has received considerable acclaim from critics since its release and stands out as one of this year’s most intriguing series. One satisfied critic, Shawn Van Horn, commented, “Its cinematic style is effective, and its performances are outstanding,” in Collider’s review of the series. With just four episodes available, this makes it an easy show to binge-watch this weekend.
