Bone Chilling Adult Horror Movies Coming to HBO Max Soon

Your next sleepless night is already scheduled on HBO Max this July. Four iconic horror films are heading to the streaming platform as part of its massive monthly content drop.

Three Evil Dead movies and Hereditary to stream on HBO Max next month

The three Evil Dead movies and Hereditary will stream on HBO Max starting July 1. The platform confirmed the horror titles as part of its monthly content update. HBO Max will add The Evil Dead (1983), Evil Dead II (1987), and Evil Dead (2013) to its library, alongside Ari Aster’s Hereditary.

The Evil Dead franchise spans three decades of horror filmmaking. Sam Raimi directed the original 1983 film and its 1987 sequel, both starring Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams. Fede Alvarez directed the 2013 reboot, which offered a fresh take on the cabin-in-the-woods premise. Army of Darkness, the third film in the original trilogy, also arrives on the same date.

Hereditary debuted in 2018 to widespread critical acclaim. Ari Aster wrote and directed the film, which stars Toni Collette as a mother unraveling after a family tragedy. The film earned praise for its unsettling atmosphere and Collette’s performance. A24 distributed the film, which helped establish Aster as a leading voice in modern horror.

The horror additions form part of a larger July content drop on the platform. HBO Max will also add several major franchises on July 1, including The Mummy series and The Equalizer trilogy. Other notable horror-adjacent titles arriving that day include Jordan Peele’s Us and The Killing of a Sacred Deer. The Strangers also join the platform’s lineup on the same date.

Max Original comedy series Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, a Big Bang Theory spinoff, premieres on July 23. Shark Week programming begins on July 26 across Discovery’s lineup on the platform.
