<em>Invincible</em> season 4 continued its impressive momentum by dropping its joint-highest rated episode since the show started back in 2021, and one villain’s constant presence proves they may quietly be the project’s most popular character. Interesting characters are one of Invincible‘s strong points, as there is a whole host of in-depth heroes and antagonists who have made their mark.

Naturally, Mark Grayson and the rest of Invincible‘s Coalition members have taken the spotlight this season, with the Viltrumite army being their main opposition, but there have been several friends and foes back on Earth who have gone through major development throughout the series. However, among all these great personalities, Conquest may have made the biggest impression on fans.

Despite being a sinister villain with limited screen time compared to some of the show’s biggest names, Conquest continues to elevate the comic book adaptation with every episode, and the ratings prove it. Impressively, Invincible boasts five different episodes with a 9.7 or higher score on IMDb, and Conquest features in every one.

While he only had a very brief cameo in season 1’s finale and a short yet more impactful one in season 3, episode 7, he was a major part of both season 3’s finale and season 4, episode 5, proving that Conquest is a cheat code for producing high-rated Invincible episodes.

Now, he has once again appeared in the show’s most recent outing, which currently sits at a 9.9 on IMDb as of writing. Therefore, even if audiences claim to hate him deep down or feel intimidated by this formidable Viltrumite, his constant role in these acclaimed hits proves that he is Invincible‘s most must-see character.

Even After His Death, Conquest Remains Present In Invincible’s Highest-Rated Episodes

After his appearance in “Give Us a Moment”, it looked like Invincible may officially be done with Conquest, as Mark finally put an end to his biggest foe. However, the Viltrumite somehow still found a way to pop up in “Don’t Do Anything Rash”, proving that even after dying, Conquest is still a big part of the show’s best episodes.

There’s no denying that the battle just outside Viltrum was the episode’s best aspect, as seeing Thragg finally demonstrate his true power was a sight to behold. Watching him wipe the floor with Invincible‘s strongest characters made for a jaw-dropping experience, especially after Mark, Nolan, Thaedus, and Space Racer destroyed his home planet.

Season 4’s penultimate episode was filled with big moments, but the flashback to Viltrum’s past was also important, and Conquest was a fairly significant part of it. He was seen participating in the planet’s culling of the weak, and he looked ready to challenge Thragg for a second before eventually backing down.

In the grand scheme of things, his cameo was short and didn’t influence the episode nearly as much as Thragg, the surviving Viltrumites, and the Coalition. Still, even after Conquest’s death in Invincible season 4, he continues to find a way to feature in its most memorable outings, which is quite an achievement.

It feels like everything Conquest touches turns to gold… and blood, but he’s set the bar high for the kind of quality fans come to expect in a villain, which Thragg has instantly matched.

It’s unlikely we see many more appearances from him now that his story is well and truly over, but the Viltrumite remains ingrained in the show’s success, and even his grizzly demise hasn’t stopped him from making his presence felt.

Will Invincible Season 4’s Finale Finally Break The Trend?

Now that Conquest is dead and buried while Viltrum’s backstory has been covered, it’s hard to see him featuring in season 4’s finale, but could this episode break Invincible‘s best trend? Although the villain has featured in each of these top episodes, it’s not like the series hasn’t had other great episodes without him.

“Don’t Do Anything Rash” would have been almost as successful even if he didn’t appear, despite his cameo adding to the quality. Additionally, after Invincible season 4’s divisive fourth episode became the lowest-rated in the show’s history, the story has been flawless ever since, with the next three episodes all clearing a 9 rating on IMDb.

This kind of momentum, as well as the previous episode’s incredible cliffhanger, sets up a thrilling finale which looks set to continue the ongoing success. Achieving a 9.7 or higher won’t be easy, but if “Don’t Leave Me Hanging Here” lives up to the hype, it could easily land somewhere in this ballpark.

With that said, matching the previous outing will be nearly impossible which could go against the finale’s rating. Likewise there’s always the smallest of chances that Conquest does appear in some kind of flashback or moment of trauma for Mark meaning he may continue sneaking his way into what could be another Invincible masterpiece.

Whatever happens it’s hard to see a world where season 4’s conclusion isn’t at least memorable and regardless of whether it bucks this trend or hits the heights of Invincible‘s best work it’s still bound to be a huge crescendo — one that fans won’t want to miss.
