On July 28, a surprising new Dungeons and Dragons sourcebook expansion will be released, which could be an exceptional addition for fans of the popular TTRPG, particularly due to its content. Following the recent launch of Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, the TTRPG has officially entered its Season of Horror, with more expansions anticipated in the future. There are numerous new D&D subclasses in Ravenloft, along with monsters, adventures, and additional content. However, fans can look forward to even more options in the coming months.
Wizards of the Coast made an official announcement on D&D Beyond, detailing all the partnered content set for release in Q3 2026. Exciting additions include the Beyond Player Pack for Steinhardt’s Guide to the Eldritch Hunt, along with a return to Legends of Greyhawk. Among these is a surprise release that is quite remarkable, given the content it will cover and the options available to players.
The Vampire: The Masquerade – Bound by Blood sourcebook will launch for D&D 5.5e on July 28. This unexpected collaboration allows players to explore the horrors of the Vampire: The Masquerade intellectual property within the renowned D20 TTRPG system. What is particularly surprising is that Vampire: The Masquerade, as a TTRPG system, is often viewed as a direct competitor to the game published by Wizards of the Coast.
However, it appears there are more similarities than differences, as vampiric elements and political intrigue from the World of Darkness universe are being integrated into Dungeons and Dragons. The upcoming sourcebook will introduce a new vampire-themed class known as the Kindred, which will utilize Blood Points, Disciplines, and a Beast system. Additionally, it features six clans from Vampire: The Masquerade as subclasses, along with new backgrounds, feats, gear, and a level 4 adventure.
The new sourcebook not only includes standard benefits expected from a new release for Dungeons and Dragons, but also introduces two thematic mechanics designed to enhance immersion in the World of Darkness IP through D&D. These mechanics are the Masquerade level and Narrated Feeding. If you have played Vampire: The Masquerade, you will recognize these concepts once explained in detail.
If you haven’t played before, this sourcebook serves as an excellent introduction. While it officially launches via D&D Beyond on July 28, pre-orders are currently available on their website. Those who pre-order will receive a bonus featuring two D&D Beyond Character Sheet backdrops. This collaboration between two major franchises is unexpected but allows players to create a World of Darkness campaign within Dungeons and Dragons using an official sourcebook.
