Hacks Season 5 finale reveals emotional conclusion to Deborah and Ava’s story
The Hacks Season 5 finale saw Deborah take Ava to Europe following her record-breaking Central Park stand-up show. At first, the trip felt like a reward for everything they had been through; however, things then changed.
While spending time together in Europe, Deborah revealed that the mass doctors removed earlier had returned, and it had spread as well. The news caught Ava off guard, and the conversation quickly shifted the direction of their trip.
She told Ava that instead of pursuing treatment, she planned to travel to Zurich after their Paris vacation and end her life at an assisted suicide facility. However, Ava strongly opposed Deborah’s decision and tried to convince her to reconsider.
Despite their disagreement, the pair traveled to Paris and spent time enjoying the city together. During the trip, Ava convinced Deborah to join her at a nightclub. Deborah also introduced Ava to what she called “real bread.”
She also taught her how to negotiate at a Paris flea market. Ava researched new treatment options and made one final attempt to change Deborah’s mind. However, Deborah remained firm in her decision.
While waiting for their train to Zurich, Deborah and Ava returned to their familiar banter and joked about life and death. Deborah then stopped to write down one final joke before running after Ava.

Meanwhile, back in Los Angeles, Jimmy and Kayla uncovered evidence. Latitude boss Michael had secretly been selling deceased clients’ likenesses and voices to AI companies. The pair confronted him and forced him to hand over control of the company.
The finale closed on a heartwarming note as Deborah and Ava walked down the Las Vegas Strip arm-in-arm. It highlighted the deep bond between Deborah and Ava.
