Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Release Date Update Announced

Regarded as one of the greatest and most influential video games of all time, Final Fantasy VII was met with critical acclaim when it first launched way back in 1997. As a result, it came as no surprise when Square Enix announced that it would be releasing a remake of the hit RPG, albeit split into three parts. Following the announcement, Final Fantasy VII Remake launched back in 2020, with its sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, arriving in 2024. However, with the third and final entry remaining a mystery, we are yet to learn when we can expect the finale.

Luckily, a recent interview with Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy director Naoki Hamaguchi has surfaced, shedding light on the final installment and what fans can expect from it. Speaking to Genki, Hamaguchi had a lot to talk about, including FFVII‘s development progress, release window, and what roles Cid and Vincent will be taking in the finale. To this, he said, “They’re characters I can’t wait for everyone to actually try out.”

When it comes to the development of the third and final installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy, Hamaguchi said that it is “progressing on schedule” and the team is working on “fine-tuning the game up until the very end.” As such, he hopes that it is “delivered in a form befitting the conclusion of the trilogy, so we hope you can look forward to it.” However, it is the release date that most fans are interested in, but hearing that the development is on schedule is still a reassuring update, as what Hamaguchi says next carries a lot more weight.

“We are seriously considering what kind of release schedule and format would be best for the franchise and our players when launching the third installment. It’s not simply a matter of deciding ‘what comes first or second’; we want to make this decision from the perspective of what’s best for the franchise as a whole. Whatever the outcome, our goal is to create a format that new fans of the Remake series will feel was the best possible choice. That commitment will not change.”

Have we got a release window? No, but Hamaguchi has shed some light on the importance of getting the perfect launch day, especially as it will mark the finale in a remake trilogy that has been received incredibly well by players. With recent leaks hinting at the title of the third installment, whilst others suggest that the Final Fantasy VII Remake will come to an end a lot sooner than we first thought, it seems as though it is rumor and speculation that is going to be carrying us for a little bit longer. Let us just hope that we will receive a fitting conclusion to an epic saga.
