Agent 47 is a dangerous man. Apparently, the assassin’s canonical kill-count is in the hundreds, but if we were to consider every single game that’s played Hitman over the years? Well, it doesn’t bear thinking about.
While Agent 47 typically deals with corrupt crime lords, terrorists, and other individuals who believe themselves to be above the law, he’s made a pretty good go of taking out some familiar faces over the last few years. For those that might not know, Hitman World of Assassination regularly offers special, limited-time Elusive Targets. You get one shot at these targets before they’re gone forever. And for added fun, developer IO Interactive (who recently crushed it with the new James Bond game) likes to make these targets celebrity-led characters.
Past celebrity targets include Eminem, Sean Bean, Mads Mikkelsen and, most recently, Milla Jovovich. Now, rapper, actor, and songwriter Wiz Khalifa has found himself in Agent 47’s firing line.
“It came through my team,” Wiz tells ScreenRant. “They told me about IOI’s idea and once I saw how they wanted to bring me in, not just for the music, but because of my Muay Thai training, I knew it was something I had to be part of. It wasn’t just a cameo, I actually get to show a skill I’ve been putting real time into.”
It’s worth noting Wiz is a big Hitman fan too. “I think it’s the freedom,” he says of the series’ lasting appeal. “Players keep coming back because they’re not being told exactly how to do things, you get freedom. And you can always find new ways to approach it and discover new mission or talents. That kind of replay value is rare in a Premium Game.”
Exactly how Wiz fits into Hitman‘s world and how we might go about bringing him down remains under wraps as I write this, but it definitely sounds like we don’t want to fall foul of his Muay Thai training.
He continues: “Hitman is all about strategy, patience, and creativity. It’s not just running in and taking down targets, it’s about how you move, how you think, how you approach a situation. And this mission has that extra layer because now I’m in it, so it’s not just about completing the mission…it’s about taking me down.”
Obviously, Hitman is just a game, but if Wiz had to enlist another video game icon to keep him safe from Agent 47, he knows exactly who he’d call.
“I’d probably go with somebody calm but lethal…like someone who doesn’t panic,” he reasons. “Maybe somebody like Kratos or Marcus Fenix, they have been through everything already, so I feel like they’d handle it.”
Finally, is there anyone Wiz would volunteer as tribute to be Agent 47’s next celebrity target?
“I got to go with my dog Snoop – How insane would that be? And I guess I get to win that battle for a change.”
