The new TV and movie release schedule for Netflix this week (June 8-14, 2026) features the latest installment of Sweet Magnolias. Additionally, three seasons of a popular Hulu comedy will be available on the streaming service this week.
The comedy series is adapted from Linda West’s book Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman. It centers around Annie, a journalist who refuses to let her weight hinder her progress in life. She confronts every challenge, whether related to her dating life or career. Shrill received positive reviews, boasting an IMDb rating of 7.4/10 and 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. The series stars Aidy Bryant, Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, John Cameron Mitchell, Ian Owens, and Patti Harrison in prominent roles. It premieres on Netflix on June 8.
Furthermore, Sweet Magnolias Season 5 will be released on June 11. Based on the novels by Sherryl Woods, the series follows the adventures of three best friends from South Carolina.
Also debuting on Netflix is the 2025 biographical musical drama film Song Sung Blue. The film tells the story of two performers who create a Neil Diamond tribute band to pursue their dreams and ultimately fall in love.
