Jesse Eisenberg on staying in New York despite America’s politics
Jesse Eisenberg recently spoke about living in America. He made the comments at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, as reported by Variety. The actor attended after receiving the festival’s President’s Award. He stated he has no plans to leave the United States.
“I am a very lucky American. I have a nice life.” He explained that he and his wife feel responsible. They believe staying matters during difficult moments. “My wife is a teacher, and she teaches a lot of students who are not as lucky as we are. I think we feel, if anything, a responsibility to stay in New York and help those who are struggling through a tougher period in American history.”
His comments come amid Donald Trump’s presidency. Eisenberg, however, doesn’t agree with leaving. He said, “No, I’m not going to leave because I don’t like the politics of America.” He also explained why he feels that way. “That seems a little silly, because my life is very good.”
Several celebrities left America following the election result. Others divided their time between different countries. The actor recently became a Polish citizen. Still, he isn’t planning to move abroad.
He says remaining in New York feels more important. Eisenberg seems focused on staying where he is. While others chose different paths, the actor believes remaining in New York is the right decision. His comments make it clear politics alone won’t change that.
Meanwhile, Eisenberg is preparing his next film, The Debut. The musical comedy stars Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti. It is scheduled to release in U.S. theaters on December 3.
