LEGO Batman: The Dark Knight’s Legacy Unveiled

In LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you can unlock fast travel for various sections of Gotham City’s map by visiting SubWayne Stations and solving their associated puzzles. If you haven’t encountered a SubWayne puzzle yet, don’t worry; your first one becomes available in the Tricorner area early in the game, so continue progressing through the main story.

While many SubWayne puzzles are relatively simple, some can be quite challenging. One of the more confusing ones is likely the SubWayne in The Cauldron South. The entrance is obstructed by a large blue shipping container and a crane that requires power to operate. You can use your detection ability to highlight important puzzle pieces in yellow, but it won’t solve everything for you. If you’ve enhanced your detection range through Legacy of the Dark Knight‘s upgrades, that will be beneficial.

How To Unlock Fast Travel In The Cauldron South

To unlock fast travel for The Cauldron South, you must first navigate to that location on the map (as shown above). The blue shipping container is clearly in the way, but ignore it for now. Instead, hop into your favorite Batmobile or motorcycle (my preferred choice was the Batpod after I unlocked it) and drive around the corner to get started.

How To Solve The Cauldron South SubWayne Puzzle

To the immediate right of the SubWayne tunnel entrance, there’s another shipping container. You’ll need to latch onto it with your vehicle and pull, flipping the shipping container over. This will reveal a small toolshed behind it. You’ll also notice an assembly line where the shipping container was located, but the crank needed to operate it is missing its lever.

The lever is located inside the toolshed (highlighted in the image above with a red circle). Destroy everything inside to fully reveal the lever, then bring it over to the crank. This will shift the pallet that was holding the shipping container over to the right, revealing something that resembles a lift (spoiler: it’s not actually a lift). It has a yellow border and will require some weight on it to change those red lights to green.

Batcycle on lift in LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight

This is where things become complicated because there’s still no power going to the crane at the SubWayne entrance, and it’s not immediately obvious what needs to be done. The short answer is that you need enough weight on the lift (an official term, I’m sure) to transfer power to the crane. I accomplished this by riding my Batcycle onto it and then hopping off. After a moment, the lights will switch from red to green, and power will be supplied to the crane. It will automatically move the shipping container, allowing you to fast travel to The Cauldron South.

Again, those steps are:

  • Travel to The Cauldron South’s SubWayne entrance
  • Move the shipping container on the right-hand side using a vehicle
  • Retrieve the yellow lever from inside the toolshed
  • Shift the pallet to the right
  • Park a Batcycle or similar vehicle on the exposed yellow-bordered platform
  • Power will be directed to the crane, moving the shipping container
  • You have now unlocked fast travel to The Cauldron South

This was certainly my most challenging SubWayne puzzle while playing LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, so I hope this guide has been helpful for you as well.
