Which movies are similar to The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Whether you didn’t care for The Devil Wears Prada 2 or wound up enjoying it, the sequel movie can serve as a jumping-off point to some other, similar movies that are out there. We’ve come up with a list of five other films that you might want to consider watching after returning home from the theater for The Devil Wears Prada 2.
The Intern
Another film about the fashion industry, 2015’s The Intern also stars Hathaway; only, this time, she’s the one playing the big boss who’s in charge. Like The Devil Wears Prada, The Intern, which also stars Robert De Niro, provides audiences with laughs and some insight into high-stakes careers and mentorship.
Morning Glory
A 2010 film directed by Roger Michell, Morning Glory stars Rachel McAdams as an up-and-coming television producer who has to prove herself after butting heads with some tough personalities while working on the revival of a morning show program. With a cast that also includes Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton, Morning Glory hits some of the same beats as The Devil Wears Prada, with McAdams’ character’s journey somewhat mirroring Andy’s.
Confessions of a Shopaholic
A 2009 movie starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy, Confessions of a Shopaholic is also set in the world of fashion and media. This film leans a bit more into the rom-com side of things but still focuses on a woman who is trying to overcome some obstacles in order to make it in the publishing industry, albeit with a bit of a lighter tone than The Devil Wears Prada movies.
Late Night
While Late Night mostly takes place inside a writer’s room for a TV show, the journey that the Mindy Kaling character goes on is similar to Andy’s story in The Devil Wears Prada. Kaling’s Molly Patel is new to the business and quickly finds that her boss, played by Emma Thompson, can be tough and mean, leading to some very Andy and Miranda-like conflicts between the two of them.
Cruella
If the fashion aspect of The Devil Wears Prada 2 interests you the most, Cruella has plenty to offer. Starring Emma Stone as the titular Disney villain, its spirit somewhat mimics The Devil Wears Prada in that there’s plenty of ego clashes, cutting dialogue, ruthless bosses, and, of course, fabulous outfits.
