Pokémon Unveils Two New Exclusive Squishmallows

Pokémon cannot be stopped. It’s generating revenue comparable to some countries’ GDP on a monthly basis, and there are numerous branches of the business that are all profitable; it’s far from the trend that many parents anticipated it would be in the ’90s. From the physical trading card game to various digital versions of the TCG, to the mainline games and spinoffs, it’s an endless cycle.

This cycle also includes merchandise. The Pokémon Center is prepared to offer products for fans of nearly every Pokémon, even those that are less popular. In this instance, however, you may want to pay attention, as they feature fan favorites.

Currently available on the official Pokémon Center website are two exclusive Squishmallows. They are based on an iconic starter and an evolution of a well-known Pokémon, which could also be considered a starter of sorts.

Now live on the Pokémon Center website, you can find 12-inch Squishmallow plush toys for Oshawott and Raichu. With an embroidered Pokémon Center Poké Ball logo on the back, these are official Squishmallow releases, measuring 10 inches wide, and priced at $29.99 USD.

Here’s what makes them exclusive: “In a 12-inch size that’s exclusive to Pokémon Center, this ultra-squeezable Raichu Squishmallows plush is made with soft, high-quality materials and features Raichu’s adorable smile and curly ears. It’s perfect for snuggling in the car, on the plane, or at home during a Pokémon movie marathon.”

While Oshawott comes from the fifth generation of Pokémon games (Black & White), Raichu is an evolved form of Pikachu, who has been a starter of sorts in two games: Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu. It remains a popular part of Pokémon culture, appearing in various forms of Pokémon media.

Additionally, it even received two Mega forms thanks to the release of the Pokémon Legends: Z-A DLC, Mega Dimension. Given that Raichu is eternally linked to Pikachu, it will always be somewhat in the spotlight.

Regarding the fifth generation of Pokémon, we are still awaiting confirmation of Generation 5 remakes. All eyes were on the recent Pokémon Presents event, which revealed the 10th Gen of Pokémon via Winds & Waves, but there was no mention of a Gen 5 remake project. Leaks have indicated that it’s not even in development, which would mark a significant shift in pace, given that remakes have been produced for Generations 1-4 over the years.

As previously mentioned, though, Pokémon will be around for many decades to come, so there will be plenty of opportunities to deliver a Generation 5 remake at some point.
