Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt’s journey began when they met at a club in 2006, and no one else can articulate the words on their lips about it.

“I pretty much told everyone I was going to marry him and that I loved him,” she recalled in a 2016 interview with Vice. “[Everyone] thought I was crazy.”

However, not everyone was fond of the relationship between The Hills stars, who were often labeled as reality TV villains.

Despite this, the couple stayed together—getting married, welcoming sons Gunner and Ryker, and continuing their reality TV presence on shows like Celebrity Big Brother, Marriage Boot Camp, and The Hills: New Beginnings.

In January 2025, Heidi and Spencer lost their home in the Los Angeles fires. As they worked on rebuilding, he began promoting her music on social media, leading to her 2010 album Superficial climbing the charts.

“For us to be able to feel people really come together and support us and our family, and to kind of burn off, literally, that shell and that stigma that we had for so many years,” Heidi told Billboard in February 2025, “it’s nice that people can finally see through that and see that there was always a love story.”
