Guy Ritchie‘s new action thriller aims high on streaming platforms.
Ritchie has directed several successful projects, both in theaters and on streaming services. However, in recent years, his successful ventures have largely shifted to the small screen. Whether as a creator, director, writer, or executive producer, Ritchie has contributed to numerous movies and TV shows that have become leaders on their respective streaming platforms.
These projects include titles like Tom Hardy’s MobLand, Netflix’s crime thriller series The Gentlemen, Prime Video’s Young Sherlock, Apple TV’s Fountain of Youth, and more. Now, Ritchie is leveraging streaming for a second chance with his latest theatrical release.
Guy Ritchie’s New Action Thriller Fights Its Way Up Prime Video’s Global Charts
As of now, In The Grey is the 5th most-watched movie on Prime Video worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. The action thriller featuring Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza Gonzalez surpasses films like Gyllenhaal’s own Road House, the Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk, and Bob Odenkirk’s action film Normal on Prime Video’s global streaming charts. Although In The Grey recently debuted on Prime Video in several countries, it is not available for streaming in the United States; however, viewers nationwide can rent or purchase the film on Prime Video or other VOD platforms.
The only films currently outperforming In The Grey on Prime Video’s global charts are the new shark thriller The Devil’s Mouth, a Prime Video original movie, Jason Statham’s Shelter, a revenge thriller, Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary, a hard sci-fi masterpiece, and the 2026 version of Masters of the Universe, a fantasy epic. At present, Ritchie’s In The Grey is trending on Prime Video in 16 countries, ranking as the most-watched movie in 14 of those nations, including Brazil, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and others.
The streaming success of In The Grey continues a fruitful year for Ritchie on Prime Video. He also directed and served as executive producer for the hit Sherlock Holmes prequel series, Young Sherlock, which has been renewed for a second season after its successful debut. This streaming update is timely for the film as In The Grey has become a global hit on Prime Video despite bringing in only $27.2 million worldwide. Based on a reported budget of $70 million, this R-rated action thriller was considered a box office failure.
In The Grey Marks The Reunion Of Guy Ritchie And Multiple Collaborators
This R-rated action thriller from Ritchie boasts an impressive 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and reunites him with his star-studded cast. Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza Gonzalez lead the cast of In The Grey, all of whom have previously collaborated with Ritchie. Gyllenhaal returns for his second project with Ritchie after Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant.
Cavill and Gonzalez not only starred together in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, but Cavill also played a significant role in the spy film The Man from U.N.C.L.E., while Gonzalez appeared in Apple TV’s Fountain of Youth.
