With the fourth season of Prime Video’s flagship action series, Reacher, having come to an end this week, fresh viewership data has revealed just how massive the show remains. Reacher premiered in 2023 and has already been renewed for a fifth season. Given how successful the show has been — it continues to draw top ratings and has turned Alan Ritchson into a bona fide streaming star — it’s easy to forget that Reacher is also one of the best-reviewed shows around. In fact, it’s in the same league as Apple TV’s Slow Horses, which returned with a sixth season this week. The Reacher universe, on the other hand, expanded with its first spin-off, Neagley, which premiered on the same day as the Season 4 finale of the main show.
It will take a few weeks for Neagley‘s viewership to be revealed, because the industry tracker Nielsen shares streaming data around a month after the fact. This is why the latest Nielsen report tracks the week of August 31 to September 6. It revealed that Reacher was the most popular title in the industry across all series and shows. This was also the fourth week in a row that Reacher had topped the overall Nielsen chart, and the fourth week in a row that it generated more than 1 billion minutes watched. In its first week, Season 4 accumulated 1.5 billion minutes watched, followed by another 1.5 billion minutes watched in week two, and around 1.2 billion minutes watched in week 3. The show is based on Lee Child‘s bestselling books, which were previously adapted into two theatrical movies starring Tom Cruise.
