Reacher Loses Streaming Crown on Prime Video, Says Alan Ritchson

Key Insights

  • New Series: Neagley is a new spin-off from the successful Reacher series on Prime Video.
  • Viewership Success: Following its debut, Neagley quickly topped the Prime Video viewership charts.
  • Critical Acclaim: The show has received positive reviews, holding a “Certified Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • Franchise Expansion: Neagley marks the beginning of a franchise expansion for the Reacher series.

A major week for television saw Netflix deliver one of its most anticipated new shows of the year, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, the fourth installment of Ryan Murphy‘s controversial anthology series about infamous American killers. Unsurprisingly, Monster topped the global Netflix streaming chart immediately upon its debut. Meanwhile, Paramount+ welcomed Guy Ritchie‘s blockbuster crime drama series MobLand for a second season, which instantly climbed to the number-one spot as well. Prime Video, on the other hand, expanded arguably its biggest hit with a brand-new spin-off title. The new show’s launch coincided with the Season 4 finale of the main series, which surrendered the streamer’s top position to its follow-up.

We’re talking, of course, about Reacher and its spin-off series Neagley. According to FlixPatrol, Reacher slipped to the number-two spot on the global Prime Video viewership rankings over the weekend, with Neagley taking the top spot following its September 16 debut. Unlike Reacher, which aired new episodes weekly, Neagley debuted all eight episodes of its first season on the same day. Like the original, which stars Alan Ritchson in the lead role, Neagley has received highly positive reviews. It currently holds a “Certified Fresh” 92% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, compared to Reacher Season 4’s 94% score. In his review, Collider’s David Caballero wrote that the series “successfully delivers a compelling, intimate mystery that will satisfy those who are already Reacher-pilled.”
