Colin Jost has a brief update on his wife Scarlett Johansson‘s last name.
The Saturday Night Live comedian—who married Johansson in 2020—joked about an audience member’s question regarding whether the Black Widow star’s three-syllable name is pronounced with a “Joe” or “Yo” while hosting Pop Culture Jeopardy!.
“I don’t know, I’ve never met her in person yet,” Jost joked amid laughter, as seen in a clip from July 18 of the Netflix show. “So, I want to hear how she says it.”
But putting jokes aside, Jost admitted that he does not pronounce his wife’s last name in the Danish way.
“I certainly say Joe-hansson,” Jost confessed, before continuing the joke by adding, “I mean, I don’t really say it ever.”
After sharing numerous jokes about not being familiar with Johansson—with whom he has a son named Cosmo, 4, and is a stepdad to her daughter Rose, 11, from her previous relationship with Romain Dauriac—Jost did provide some insight into the Lost in Translation actress’s family heritage.
