The Devil Wears Prada 2 has officially dethroned Christopher Nolan and Anne Hathaway’s sci-fi thriller at the domestic box office.
A sequel to the 2006 film featuring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles, The Devil Wears Prada 2 released in theaters in the United States on May 1 and became a big box office hit, ranking as the fourth highest-grossing film of 2026 behind The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($991M), Michael ($857M), and Project Hail Mary ($677M).
Now, a month after its theatrical release, The Devil Wears Prada 2 ($209M) has officially dethroned Interstellar ($203M), starring Anne Hathaway, at the domestic box office. The sequel has also grossed $456 million internationally for a worldwide total of $666 million (apt given its title), while Nolan’s 2014 sci-fi film made $571 million internationally for a worldwide total of $774 million, per Box Office Mojo.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 overtaking Interstellar at the domestic box office comes as Anne Hathaway and Christopher Nolan’s next movie, The Odyssey, releases in theaters this summer on July 17, with the Oscar-winning actress playing Penelope, Odysseus’ wife. This will mark their third collaboration after The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
The Devil Wears Prada 2 also stars Emily Blunt, who received an Oscar nomination for starring in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer (2023), and Kenneth Branagh, who played supporting roles in several Christopher Nolan movies – Dunkirk (2017), Tenet (2020), and Oppenheimer (2023).
Written and directed by the returning Aline Brosh McKenna and David Frankel, The Devil Wears Prada 2 picks up 20 years after the original movie and sees Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) assisting Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) as she confronts a rapidly evolving media industry and mounting corporate pressures threatening Runway magazine.
The sequel’s cast also includes Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Simone Ashley, Trace Thoms, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Rachel Bloom, George C. Wolfe, and Pauline Chalamet as new additions. Cameos include Lady Gaga, Donatella Versace, Marc Jacobs, Ciara, Calum Harper, Ashley Graham, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Heidi Klum, Winnie Harlow, Karl-Anthony Towns, Jon Batiste, and many more.
In addition to box office success, The Devil Wears Prada 2 received positive reviews, resulting in a 78% Rotten Tomatoes score, with critics praising Meryl Streep for slipping effortlessly back into the role of Miranda Priestly in the highly entertaining sequel, blending glossy escapism with sharp social commentary on today’s media landscape.
