The Boys television series officially wrapped up its final season earlier this year, marking the end of an era for Prime’s iconic satirical superhero show. While the series finale (and entire fifth season for that matter) were quite divisive among longtime viewers, with some fans praising the finale for staying true to the show’s cynical tone, and others arguing it failed to deliver any sense of satisfying closure regarding the epic conflict.
The divisive response is fitting for a series built on controversy, but it also raises a larger question about The Boys and its future as a franchise. However, in an exclusive new interview with ScreenRant, The Boys actor Erin Moriarty sat down and gave us a glimpse at what fans can expect in an exciting new project that will see her iconic Starlight role return in an epic showdown against the infamous Homelander.
In a discussion focused on the newest Call of Duty Mobile season 5 expansion, titled Revenge, that features a unique crossover collaboration with The Boys and brings back several iconic characters, Moriarty gave ScreenRant some surprising insight into the finer gameplay details and what players can expect. She first notes that Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir are all making a return in two new gameplay modes, Attack of the Undead and Vought Royale.
In the newest COD Mobile expansion, the Starlight operator is designed around a “kill them with kindness” philosophy, Moriarty says, arguing that “it’s a disorienting and disarming thing to throw at anyone in general, especially within the Call of Duty Mobile world, when it’s like common … to trash talk others and kind of assault others with your words.”
The Boys star goes on to highlight how COD Mobile’s new season has really gone above and beyond to authentically capture the defining characteristics of each Supe, and does so in a way that the various spin-offs (e.g., Gen V, Diabolical, etc.) don’t quite deliver. “[If] you just simply want to dip your toe into the original characters in an immersive degree” she says, “[our] characters have been explored to their max, so you can kind of satiate that desire by playing Call of Duty Mobile.”
Further, Moriarty suggests that, while she may be a bit biased, Starlight is a contender for the strongest operator in COD Mobile Season 5: “I think people will be surprised by how fierce Starlight can be, because you might intuitively, at first, go for Homelander and think he’s going to be the right choice to decimate everyone. I’m biased, because Starlight’s my girl, but she’s pretty powerful in this world. It’s a great collab of characters, for sure.”
