The 2023 sports drama movie from Sony Pictures, featuring Orlando Bloom and David Harbour, has found a new streaming platform. Starting today, the Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story film is now available for streaming on HBO Max.

Gran Turismo was directed by Neill Blomkamp, with a screenplay by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. The film is inspired by the true story of Jann Mardenborough, who transitioned from a gamer to a professional racecar driver after participating in the GT Academy competition that sought out the best Gran Turismo video game players. The cast features Archie Madekwe as Jann, Harbour as Jack, Bloom as Danny, Darren Barnet as Matty, Djimon Hounsou as Steve, Geri Halliwell-Horner as Lesley, Daniel Puig as Coby, Josha Stradowski as Nicholas, Sang Heon Lee, and Thomas Kretschmann.
The synopsis states, “Based on the unbelievable true story of a team of unlikely underdogs, the film follows a struggling working-class gamer, a failed former racecar driver, and an idealistic motorsport executive. Gran Turismo was produced by Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Doug Belgrad, and Dana Brunetti, with game creator Kazunori Yamauchi, Hall, and Baylin serving as executive producers. During its theatrical release, the film grossed approximately $122 million worldwide against a reported budget of $60 million. It currently boasts a Popcornmeter score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
