A witch can express a lot through the right dress. For Elphaba, an imposing silhouette keeps the world at bay, while Glinda effortlessly makes an entrance in pink. However, when you place their wardrobes side by side, another story emerges: the friendship that transforms them both.
This makes fashion a fitting tribute to Wicked, where appearances shape how Oz perceives its two most iconic witches. Their contrasting styles are instantly recognizable, yet the details invite exploration of what they signify to one another. Who better to unravel those threads than the costume designer behind their looks?
Collider can exclusively unveil Mattel’s new Wicked: For Good Elphaba and Glinda collector dolls, created in collaboration with Academy Award-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell. Set to launch in Spring 2027, these dolls translate the emotion and craftsmanship of his film costumes into couture creations. Both will also be showcased at Universal’s Oztacular Spectacular fan event at Universal CityWalk Orlando today, October 24, providing fans with an early chance to view the designs. This collaboration follows Mattel’s Wicked doll collection with Universal Pictures, bringing Tazewell’s creative vision directly into the collectibles.

Elphaba and Glinda’s New Collector Dolls Wear Their Friendship
Elphaba’s design embodies all the drama befitting the Wicked Witch of the West. Tazewell drew inspiration from mushrooms growing on a mossy tree and the striking shapes of asymmetrical plumage. These influences shape a silhouette featuring a sculptural high-collar bolero, an angular bodice, and a voluminous skirt, completed by her signature hat and heels. However, the most revealing detail is the color woven into that skirt. The black-to-pink ombré symbolizes how an unexpected friendship softens Elphaba’s guarded exterior, allowing a hint of Glinda’s signature shade into her look. It’s a particularly sweet touch for a design that otherwise maintains the mystery surrounding Oz’s infamous witch.
Glinda’s ensemble draws inspiration from flower petals and butterfly wings, translating their softness and movement into a pink couture gown. Organic curves and a dramatic mermaid silhouette give the outfit its form, while embellishments enhance its glamour. A sparkling crown and heels complete a look that delights the famously fashionable witch. Her outfit also connects to Elphaba with subtle chartreuse accents that evoke the lasting impact of their friendship. Together, the dolls incorporate that bond into their design while each retains her unique style. For collectors who have already made space for both witches, this connection adds an extra touch of magic.
Mattel’s Paul Tazewell Wicked: For Good collector dolls will be available in Spring 2027. Fans attending Universal’s Oztacular Spectacular at Universal CityWalk Orlando can see Elphaba and Glinda on display on October 24. You can pre-order the dolls here.
