Avengers: Doomsday is set to be a major film, and it just got even more exciting. Marvel Studios has announced a new cast member, an MCU star who was last seen in Avengers: Endgame.
Which former MCU star will return in Avengers: Doomsday?
During Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel, the company showcased many stars from the upcoming ensemble Avengers movie. It was revealed that Hayley Atwell will be returning to the MCU.
Atwell is known for her role as Peggy Carter, the love interest of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and a true hero in her own right, throughout the MCU. She last appeared in Endgame, where Rogers traveled back in time to live his life with Carter.
With much of the upcoming Doomsday rumored to focus on Chris Evans’ return as Captain America, Atwell’s involvement makes sense, and it is now confirmed. After the panel, Atwell described the movie as an “existential epic,” stating that we will see Peggy “in a very different light.”
“Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” states the film’s official synopsis.
The film will feature an extensive cast, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, among others. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is set to follow a year later on December 17, 2027.
