Save Most Collectibles Until After The Main Story
As with most LEGO games, there are a lot of collectibles that are best saved until after the main story is completed. This is especially true for the various challenges and collectibles that cover pretty much every inch of Gotham City. It’s fine, of course, to chip away at some of these as you find them, but it’s still best to wait until the story is finished to complete them in earnest.
This is because everything will be easier after the credits roll. You’ll have character upgrades which make fights easier, and you’ll have access to all playable characters in Legacy of the Dark Knight and their abilities, so you can actually solve all the puzzles. By this time you’ll also (hopefully) have unlocked all SubWayne tunnels for fast travel and radio towers to see all collectibles (more on both of those in a moment).

Check Challenges In The Batcave
Of all the mechanics introduced in the Batcave, this might be the one that’s easiest to overlook. This takes place toward the entrance of the Batcave, where you unlock pieces of a mural by completing challenges. However, you only need to complete 20 to get the trophy/achievement associated with it.
You’ll want to check these challenges regularly since they tell you what to do. It makes it easier to complete them, especially the ones related to combat as you play through levels. You’ll also get nice rewards like LEGO studs for completing individual challenges, which can help greatly with purchase-related trophies or achievements like buying suits from Bat-mite’s shop and purchasing Batmobiles in the Batcave.

Look For Stud Caches As You Travel Through Gotham City
There are a couple of types of treasure chests to find in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The first is for WayneTech Caches, which you’ll need to snag for gadget upgrades and various trophies or achievements. However, there are also stud caches which can make you very rich very quickly. These don’t show up on the map but will appear on your screen when you’re using detection.
The best way to find them is by spamming detection while gliding, grappling, or driving through Gotham City. They’ll have the same symbols as WayneTech caches but without the “W.” It’s not necessarily vital to roam around and look for them specifically, but because they are plentiful, it is worth keeping an eye out for them as you naturally travel around the city. Plus, they don’t come with corresponding puzzles to solve. You literally just have to open them, which is nice.
