Mckenna Grace’s Horror Sequel Becomes a Streaming Hit

Mckenna Grace‘s horror movie may have sparked debate due to various factors, but this recent release has proven to be a box office success and has quickly become a major streaming hit. Despite being only 20 years old, Grace’s impressive list of successful movies and TV shows is extensive. This is largely because she began her career at a very young age, featuring in prominent projects such as I, Tonya, Captain Marvel, The Vampire Diaries, Once Upon a Time, and many others, including several films from major horror franchises.

For example, Grace has starred in horror films like Annabelle Comes Home and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. She also played a significant role in the latest installment of the iconic supernatural sci-fi franchise Ghostbusters, leading Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. On television, Grace contributed to the genre with one of the best recent horror series, appearing in Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House. In 2026, she joined the slasher franchise Scream as Hannah Thurman in the controversial Scream 7, which has now achieved streaming success nationwide on an important chart.

Scream 7 Is Slashing Its Way Through Prime Video’s Top 10

As of now, Scream 7 ranks as the second most-watched movie on Prime Video in the United States, according to data from FlixPatrol. The film is among the new releases that arrived on Prime Video in October. The latest entry in the Scream franchise debuted on the streaming service on October 16. It took just one day for Scream 7 to start trending on Prime Video, debuting at #5. Since its release on the platform, Grace’s new horror movie has continued to cut through the competition, trailing only behind Love of Your Life.

This title is a recent star-studded original movie on Prime Video featuring actors like Lanterns‘ Aaron Pierre, Margaret Qualley, The Night Agent‘s Gabriel Basso, and The White Lotus‘ Patrick Schwarzenegger. While Love of Your Life may currently hold the top spot on the Prime Video chart, Scream 7 has surpassed films such as Masterplan, The Love Hypothesis, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, and Underwater. The newfound streaming success of Scream 7 builds upon its significant box office performance. After hitting theaters on February 27, Scream 7 grossed $208 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.

Based on reports indicating that Scream 7‘s budget was $45 million, its total earnings of $208 million classify it as a global success. However, despite its financial accomplishments and early streaming success on Prime Video, Grace’s Scream 7 remains a polarizing release. This divisiveness stems from behind-the-scenes issues within the franchise. Star Melissa Barrera, who portrayed Sam Carpenter in both Scream (2022) and Scream VI, was dismissed due to social media posts amid rising tensions related to the Gaza war. The production faced additional challenges including Jenna Ortega’s exit and changes in direction. Nevertheless, Scream 7 continues to impress with a strong streaming debut.
