Sadie Sink in Spider-Man 4 has impressed critics with her debut performance. Following the movie’s premiere, reviews have highlighted Max Mayfield from Stranger Things making a significant entry into the MCU.
Since the announcement of Sink’s involvement in the Marvel film, various rumors have circulated regarding her character. The most prevalent speculation suggested she would portray Jean Grey from the X-Men. This theory gained traction when Steve Lacy inadvertently confirmed the character’s inclusion in the film. However, that remains a closely guarded secret.
Nonetheless, the accolades continue to flow. Attendees of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere expressed excitement over Sink’s emotional portrayal. The Hollywood Reporter noted, “Without revealing too much about the role, the Stranger Things star’s compelling performance introduces a fresh perspective on a well-known character and adds a poignant backstory to motivate her actions, potentially paving the way for future appearances.”
According to Deadline, “the enigmatic character portrayed by Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) demonstrates without a doubt that she possesses the talent to handle a complex, multi-dimensional role of a young woman whose troubled mental state and personal loss render her as isolated as Peter Parker himself.”
New Rockstars’ Erik Voss remarked, “Sadie Sink is remarkable in her role, and I eagerly anticipate seeing more of her in the MCU.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place four years after the events of No Way Home. At the conclusion of the previous film, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man asked Doctor Strange to erase everyone’s memories of Peter Parker, leading to widespread forgetfulness about his identity.
As a result of Doctor Strange’s spell, Parker’s girlfriend MJ, played by Zendaya, and his best friend Ned Leeds, portrayed by Jacob Batalon, have also lost their memories of him. As he navigates life alone, the friendly neighborhood superhero encounters characters like Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Scorpion (Michael Mando). The film also features Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as Bruce Banner.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and is set for release on July 31, 2026.
