Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new R-rated movie has critics on board and is running full steam ahead.
Gellar first became a global favorite as Buffy Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003) before building an impressive film résumé and becoming widely celebrated as a scream queen with I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Scream 2 (1997), Cruel Intentions (1999), Scooby-Doo (2002), Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004), The Grudge (2004), Southland Tales (2006), Do Revenge (2022), and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026). Now, she stars in a new R-rated movie that is receiving rave reviews.

Ahead of its release in a few days, Stop! That! Train! has debuted to a stellar Rotten Tomatoes score. Directed by Adam Shankman, with a script written by Christina Friel and Connor Wright, the upcoming action comedy follows two stewardesses trying to prevent a catastrophe aboard a high-speed train as a powerful storm threatens to send everything off the rails.
Now, ahead of its theatrical release on June 12, Stop! That! Train! has debuted with a 92% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie only has 12 reviews at the time of writing, so its score could fluctuate as more are published. Its audience score will also start to take shape once the movie releases in theaters this Friday.

The film features a massive ensemble cast consisting of drag performers who have appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race – including Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Latrice Royale, Marty Lauter, Monét X Change, Symone, Angeria Paris VanMicheals, and RuPaul Charles himself – alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicole Richie, Raven-Symoné, Michelle Visage, Chris Parnell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Charo.

Critics largely agree that the movie embraces gleeful absurdity rather than chasing sophistication – piling on rapid-fire jokes, slapstick, and affectionate parody. Many praise its upbeat spirit, energetic ensemble, and willingness to commit completely to the bit, even if some gags miss or linger longer than they should across its runtime.
Reviewers also highlight the chemistry between the central performers, especially Ginger Minj and Jujubee while celebrating the film’s inclusive, joyful tone and Pride Month release. Several say repeat viewings reward viewers because of the nonstop jokes making laughter the real destination aboard Stop! That! Train!
