Doomsday Update Excites MCU Fans of Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Avengers: Doomsday has received a significant update that may excite fans of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who wrote the upcoming Spider-Man movie, have confirmed their involvement in Marvel’s next Avengers films.

In an interview with The Wrap, Destin Daniel Cretton revealed that McKenna and Sommers departed from the Spider-Man movie during production. They transitioned to work on the next two Avengers films. Justin Kuritzkes later joined Spider-Man: Brand New Day as a writer, contributing during production and handling rewrites. His final credit is listed as “additional literary material.”

McKenna and Sommers later confirmed their participation in the Avengers movies, although they did not disclose specific details about their writing or storylines. Sommers stated, “We’re happy to say we are involved with the Avengers. We can’t really say much more than that. We love working with Marvel and we have a relationship with the Russos, and it’s a pleasure. It’s a real pleasure.”

The duo previously wrote Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. They also collaborated on Ant-Man and the Wasp, sharing writing duties with Paul Rudd, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari.

Who else is involved with Avengers: Doomsday besides Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers?

Joe and Anthony Russo are directing Avengers: Doomsday. The brothers previously directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Stephen McFeely is also contributing to Doomsday after collaborating with the Russos on several earlier Marvel films.

Michael Waldron has contributed to the scripts for both Doomsday and Secret Wars. He previously created Loki and wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
